The secrets of fish
In the last two weeks we have learned about the body structure of fish in natural scientific lesson. During the second lesson we strained our first daphnia culture.
Last lesson we started the anatomy of ray-finned fishes. Since the harvest of our garden pond the Community House is the home of three species. At the first lesson we studied the body parts of the fish, their scales and their swim bladders. Our carassius and catfish gave good examples of standard and full length of an adult fish and the scale specimen were good for sex identification.
During the second half of the lesson we examined the scales and the skin of the fish under microscope and we also examined their inner organs. After the theoretical part of the lesson we performed autopsy on our carassius in order to know more about fish. As the closing part of the lesson we fed the koi with the daphnia culture. We were surprised to have 3-4.000 pieces from the original 133.
