We visited the Busójárás in Mohács
“The downtown of Mohács was full of music and singing on the Saturday of the busó march, when members of the Nagybajom and Kaposvár Community House came to visit and take part in this special programme. There were of course many other visitors, as the streets were bustling with people in costumes coming and going. None of the members of group 1 from Kaposvár had ever been to this event before, so it was a great experience to be immersed in the hustle and bustle, the children were just gasping.
In the Mohács Community House we were welcomed in the morning, where the young people made a fridge magnet with a Busó mask on it, and even a Busó arrived, whose mask was tried on by the braver ones. We learned about the origins of the Busó procession, about this spectacular folk tradition and got a closer look at the costumes. The mentors and parents from Mohács also prepared a huge batch of beans stew and doughnuts for us. In the afternoon there was time for football and conversation, as this was the first time the Kaposvár and Mohács groups had met since the summer camp.” Zsuzsa Fenyő Kaposvár Group 1, mentor
