Swimming camp for the little ones of Jászság

Swimming camp for the little ones of Jászság

On the first day of the camp, we started with light games on the MEMO playground on Margaret Island, giving us a kick-start for the rest of the day. Teacher Dávid Csirke arrived, and after introducing himself to the children, we divided the teams into beginner tadpoles and advanced sharks. After that, the first swimming lessons began, with preparation, leading exercises, gliding and learning how to breathe in and out correctly. These sessions were held in a very good atmosphere thanks to the playful and fun exercises. Between two sessions, the children were free to enjoy the beach’s better and better pools. During the camp, we try to deepen our existing knowledge as much as possible, and for those who are just learning to swim, the aim is to learn water safety and basic swimming techniques.

On the next day of the camp, we continued the swimming sessions, in between which the children were free to relax, enjoy the water and talk. In the afternoon, we participated in a joint bowling match where two drawn teams competed to win. This was followed by a little game of skill around the city, where the children had to decipher the identity of the locations based on small, playfully worded texts and take a creative photo together. Then the team that returned to the community centre with the photos first won the prize. In parallel with this game, the children had to work together in teams to make a casserole of potatoes completely independently, which was supervised, tasted and scored by the mentors at the end. Here again, the most important aspect was teamwork and teamwork, but the taste of the food was not the last consideration. At the end of the day, everyone went out to relax.

On Monday, we started the day as we do every day with a swim. The first lesson started in the learning pool, but by the second lesson the sharks were in deep water and by the end they were practicing jumping into the water. The tadpoles practiced their footwork in the learning pool on Monday. The next programme was a creative activity where the group was divided into two groups and we listened to music and made fan and postcard creations.

On Tuesday morning we arrived at the beach at the usual time. The sharks started to swim and progressed very well, they started to swim fast, first practicing leg stroke, then arm stroke, then they combined the two and went into the big pool where they swam long lengths and jumped into the water. The tadpoles also continued to swim and progress very well. Afterwards, well tired, we walked back to the community centre where, after lunch, the team watched a film that everyone really enjoyed.

The last day of camp was the usual morning schedule. In the morning, everyone gathered at the Community Center and together we headed to the beach. After a playful warm up, we continued with the speed swim and breaststroke in the big pool, but the best part was the diving, which was luckily part of the instruction. Everyone can say that they have gained a lot of knowledge in swimming. It was a great pleasure to see that everyone enjoyed the lessons and that the atmosphere was great, thanks to the mentors and swimming instructor Dávid Csirke, who we hope to see again next year at the Health Camp. It was nice that he praised everyone and was pleased with everyone, so we can say that we have learned to swim, although there is still more to learn, but splashing around on the beach will now be more confident.
