Hoplites, into line!
On 9 December, several members of the Szeged Group 3 approached the strategically crucial Kis-Tisza u. 12, where the Szögedi Community Centre is located. On this day, the young hoplites learned ancient Greek strategy and warfare under the wings of Marcell Sebők and Gábor Berta. The warlords enlisted the help of the gods in a recent video game, Assasin’s Creed Odyssey, to show the future Spartans the ins and outs of the ancient Hellenic world. The youngsters were then pitted against each other in two teams, resulting in a fierce battle, which Homer, the author of this article, dubbed the “Battle of the Bridge of the Tisza”. However, no matter how brilliant the two sides had their war chambers, they were unable to overcome each other, no matter how they applied what they had learned. Then the cadets realised how fierce the battle was making them hungry, so they made peace and feasted so vigorously that even the neighbouring Persians were licking their ten fingers. Thank you to all the contributors who awakened the spartan spirit in this small group 🙂
