Environmental awareness family day at the Helyet Foundation
“The OTP Account in Jászberény organised a family day for families with children with disabilities in the spirit of environmental awareness. During the unique programme, five of our group visited the Kis-Csillag Tanoda of the Helyet Foundation with volunteers from the OTP bank branch, who distributed donated second-hand clothes and personalised them if the size was not the most suitable and discussed topics related to environmental awareness. We then followed with our own projects that we have been working on so far, more specifically the Sustainable Clothing and Against Food Waste projects were briefly presented. After that we made jewellery from unused jeans, which the children were very happy about, and it was a really exciting exercise, and the jeans didn’t end up in the bin either.
We presented our gift to the head of the school, Tímea Nagy: tomato and pepper seedlings and herbs, because they are also consciously trying to educate the children about self-sustainability and healthy living in their small garden.
We are very happy to have been a part of this, as it is important to get the message across to all families that anyone can do something for our planet, and it was a great feeling to be able to prove it. And the fact that it could happen with such an enthusiastic team is just a huge plus! We had a really meaningful time together, which we couldn’t have done without the volunteers, the children and of course our volunteer Aunty Kati Paksi.” Kállai Gréta, Kiss Noémi, Tamasi Tilda, Varga Orsolya and Pege Gyula Jászság Group 3
