VILLANY’S DOWNHILL
On November 17, I had the opportunity to visit Villány as part of the “practice makes perfect” competition. I applied for this application because I plan to work as a winemaker after graduating from the faculty of food engineering. In the morning, we met László Romsics, who is the general manager of the Csányi winery. First, he explained his career, and then he showed us around the winery. We were able to find out what processes the incoming grapes go through before they are sold as wine. We saw the washing, cleaning and storage equipment, and we also saw how the wine is bottled on the production line. After that, we went down to the cellar, which is the longest cellar system in Villány and where wine has been bottled here for about 150 years. Finally, we also went out to the vineyards of the Csányi winery, all the way to Kisharsány, from where you could see a significant area, and the view spoke for itself. I am very grateful for the opportunity, both for the experience and for meeting Mr. Romsics. Thanks to this, I got even more in the mood for winemaking, as well as the sight of the place completely captivated me.
