XXX ANNIVERSARY CSÁNGÓ FESTIVAL in Jászberény
In the morning (12 August), Aunt Judit and I bought the School Year grant, which we would like to thank the Foundation for. Afterwards, we met at the Community Centre, where we first tidied up our small garden, and then went out to the Csángó Festival. The festival aims to introduce the cultural values and life of the Csángó Hungarians to the people who visit the area. Folk dance is the main focus this week. There are a lot of people coming from all over the country, even from abroad. There are dance houses and folk dance performances on stage. The folk dance performances of the elderly aunts and uncles from the Csángó land always get the biggest applause. Unfortunately we didn’t see them this time, because they usually perform in the evening. We also visited the folk art fair, where you can buy various handicrafts. We also had time for a game of foosball and ping pong. We talked about what had happened to whom since we last met. It’s always good when we are together.
