Luca Borsy

My name is Luca Borsy. I was born in Győr in 1978 and have lived in Pécs for almost 30 years, and went to Janos Pannonius Secondary Grammar School in the city. In 2003 I received a degree in Social Pedagogy, from the Apáczai Csere János Teacher Training College of the University of West Hungary in Győr. In 2008 I graduated as a social worker from the Faculty of Humanities, at the University of Pécs.

Starting in 1999, I worked as a child supervisor for two academic years at the Éltes Mátyás School Centre, where I supported the work of special education teachers.

Between 2003 and 2006 I worked as an adult protection administrator at the 1st Regional Social Centre, of the Mayor’s Office of the City of Pécs.

In 2007 I was a youth worker at the Small Children’s Social Institutions Directorate, of the City of Pécs Local Government. At the “Vadrózsa” Foundation, which works for the equality of children, I worked in a complex programme providing support to highly disadvantaged families with small children.

I spent 5 years at the 1st Transitional Family Housing Facility of the Ifjúságért Egyesület (Youth Association) in Pécs, as a family carer. This association provides care and effective and intensive mental care to families in social crisis, with life management problems. Besides working as a family carer, I also provided consultancy to foster parents.

I started working as a mentor at the Foundation in January 2013. I find this work very challenging, but I have always loved working with children of all age groups, as the future belongs to children and young adults. Here at the Csányi Foundation we are creating a future, both for them and with them.
