The Anatomy of Violence
The Somogy County Police Department and actors from the famous Csiky Gergely Theatre have launched an initiative aimed to cut back on school violence throughout the county. To achieve this, they would present 111, written by the Polish Tomasz Man in all of the boarding schools in Somogy, and then drama teachers would collect student feedback. This means that the play will be shown in as many as eleven different places, to eleven different audiences.
But such a project has to have a starting point, and the play also needs to be tested before taking it on the road. And last night, some students from our group had the opportunity to see this ‘zeroth presentation’. The play deals with a young man killing his parents, and the reasons behind it, the neglection the young man suffered from as a boy, relations in his family, and much more. After that, four of our Hungarian or drama teachers from the Foundation asked people about their views on the characters, which they then presented not only to each other, but to the actors and the director of the play as well.
All in all, I believe this night has been very useful for me, and in my opinion, this initiative can be a good weapon against school violence.
