Our Aquaponics is ready
At the last natural scientific lesson (24th October) we finished the last steps on our aquaponics system, which we have been working on since the beginning of October. The mini green house that is used for growing plants, and the CO2 generator, is used for feeding algae with CO2 are now ready for kick off.
During the last two weeks we learned about the autotroph and heterotroph nutritional forms through examples from our close surroundings. We examined the body parts of Daphnia magna and made drawings based on what we saw under the microscope. In the second part of the lesson we made CO2 generator from yeast and sugar and we built the mini greenhouse using plastic bottles, the planting plots for tomato, parsley and tarragon. After putting the last part into the system we were eager to put the whole aquaponics system into operation. It will be used to learn about many new things and to understand the aqua symbiosis. At the end of the lesson, we counted the growing population of Daphnia.
