Lesson for the Weekend
The Community Centre of Marcibányi Square and the Association for Drama Pedagogy organized a thematic conference titled ‘Lesson From a Theatre’ in Budapest last weekend (7th Feruary).
The topic was the story, observed from the angle of the theatre. In attendance were drama teachers, people associated with theatrics and theatre enthusiasts, who shared their ideas on the given topic. We listened to lectures given by Péter Scherer and Eszter Gyulai on how everyday stories are turned into a theatrical performance.
Director and dramatist Béla Pintér talked about his personal experiences and his way of thinking, which I found to be a real treat for specialists. At the end of the day, the evening puppet show put the cherry on the cake, special thanks to Bárka Theatre, who showed a special way of storytelling by using not only puppets, but also other objects like broom handles. The discussion following the performance reached late into the evening, nevertheless, we left the conference with satisfaction and the thought that we’d love to take part in such useful, meaningful and practical trainings in the future.
