Katie Shuford in Nagybajom
I would like to begin by thanking the Csányi Foundation for inviting me to speak at the community house in Nagybajom. When I walked in, I was greeted by the children and their mentors who immediately made me feel welcome.
I gave a presentation about American folk rhythms and taught some brave volunteers how to play the spoons, how to hambone, and how to use their bodies and everyday objects to make music. The children were so much fun to interact with. They were attentive and interested and really made me excited to speak with them. After the presentation we ate lunch and I had a chance to sit and chat with some of the students from the community house. They are extremely intelligent and friendly and made me so thankful for the opportunity to meet and talk with them.
