Kaposvár – We are done

Kaposvár – We are done

The end-of-term language exams have finished today in Kaposvár. All the kids were well-prepared.

This afternoon we spent examining the students at Csanyialapitvany Kaposvar.  It is a beautiful ,colorful community house, filled with comfortable furniture and friendly people. The students did so well! I was impressed by each one of them. The higher level older students are entirely conversational.

They each held their own very well as we debated various topics. The younger students also did quite nicely. They talked about how much they learn and all their various interests, including architectural drawing, synchronized swimming, football, physics and, of course,  reading and computer games. Such interesting, hardworking, and polite students! It was a pleasure to talk with them.  With some of the advanced students, I found myself speaking as quickly and unclearly as I would with native speaker students. I had to remind myelf that they are not native speakers! And they in turn showed  very little difficulty responding to me.  Even with the younger students, I only slowed my speech a little bit and they understood, so they can feel that if they continue to work, they too will become quite fluent.

The children did well and I hope that they feel good about their impressive accomplishments.

SZEGED

On the 20th of April, Csányi students in the Community House of Szeged sit their final oral language exam. The students were excited but well-prepared and they did their best in order to prove their language skills and to show how much they have learned during the last few months. We heard many nice and fluent talks and those who needed a little help also could express their ideas in connection with the given topics. The children are now waiting excitedly the result of the annual language contest, to know who will be the ones to gain another lifetime experience in an English camp abroad.

NAGYBAJOM

On the 17th April the students  Today on 17th April 2015 me took part int he final oral examination of the English Project competention. We’re been trying our best for 4 years now. These challenges helped us to get familiar with the situation of an exam. We’re excited to see the list the names of the ones that get to travel to England and we hope many of us make it.

Compass volunteers in Csanyi Foundation

For the second time, Compass sent us to help assess the language level of the Csanyi youths. The target languages were English and German and so one English and two German volunteers came, giving the opinions of native speakers. After some preparation time, the exams started and we helped the Csanyi workers to animate discussions with the students. After each student had finished, we discussed in cooperation with the workers the level of the students. This was an interesting challenge for us as we were useful in helping the Csanyi foundation achieve its goals.

We would be very happy to come and help out again. Köszönjük szépen Nagybajom!

The stakes were high because their whole-year work was assessed. The students were well-prepared and had a smooth exam. We are thankful for their hard work.

JÁSZBERÉNY

It was such a wonderful experience to help judge the English competition today (13th April). The students were each so interesting and endearing in their own individual ways. Overall, they expressed themselves very well and I was quite impressed. The individual personalities shone through, which is another demonstration of their competency in a second language.  would like to encourage them all to take every opportunity they have to practice their language skills, to talk and to listen,  to read and to write.

These skills will continue to grow and will come in handy no matter what they end up doing in life. They all have a good foundation upon which to build, thanks to their very excellent and devoted teachers and a comprehensive curriculum which teaches very useful and practical things.
