Health Camp in Szeged
Our first camp of the season.
On the 16th of June, the first day of the summer school holiday was the first day of the health camp for the members of group 3 in Szeged. Our first day programme was to revise the different swimming techniques that the children learnt in last year’s swimming camp and the best venue for this happening was the Aquapolis of Szeged. Of course, we also tested the different slides whether they are still the same fun factor of the swimming pool. After the abundant lunch, we rested in the silent pools and when we were full of energy again, we headed to continue sliding and swimming in the waters. The best complement of the day is that we do not need bedtime story to fall asleep easily tonight.
On Wednesday (17th June) we started our health camp with a big walk from the Community House to the Zoo of Szeged. Here we revised all those things that we have learned throughout the school year. We know more and more and we now can see connection between and among many different things. Of course, our volunteer guide Sebők Marcel helped us a lot. In the zoo as we were strolling up and down we eat sweet pastry roll but by we got to the not so nearby restaurant we all got hungry again. When we got back to the Community House, this was the first time of the year when we were too tired to play football.
On Thursday the 18th of June the health camp continued with another big hiking and picnic at the Boszorkány-sziget. We started the tour from the Community House with backpacks equipped with balls and picnic stuff. We took a walk along river Tisza where we found a nice picnic area. We played football, did javelin, walked on hay bales and of course we prepared our sandwiches. We all had a great time. After the picnic we visited the winter harbour of Szeged.
The fourth day of our health camp (19th June) started in the ETO park in New Szeged. The group met in front of the main entrance and after registration we occupied the airsoft and adventure park. During the first half of the morning we played smart and physical team game where the opponent teams had to get the winner flag from the other’s camp. Those who were caught during the game, they had to do push ups to go back to the pitch so everyone started using cunning tactics in order to deceive the enemy. The next station was the adventure park. Here we had to face with tricky path lines, climbing on ropes, riding bicycle in the height between the trees or sliding down on a single rope to get to the end of the path lines. After the late afternoon lunch we were tired enough to get back home and have a rest for tomorrow’s challenge.
The last day of the health camp (20th June) started in the Community House where we gathered and started a short walk to the Para Park of Szeged. While we were waiting the organisers to get everything ready for us, we discussed the happenings of the week. Soon after it the group was divided into three smaller groups and the children closed the doors behind themselves to find the logical clues to get out of the building in 60 minutes. The programme was engaging and amusing and almost everyone could manage to get out of the building. After the abundant lunch we marched to the Mátyás square where we had the biggest ice-cream of the town and we closed the week with a football match. The members of the group now have a week to present their school certificates and get ready for the coming language camp in Tokaj.
