We have arrived. One week in Chalfont.
We arrived safe and sound to Chalfont St. Giles in England. This is the camp for elementary English language students who arrived from Jászberény, Nagybajom, Pécs and Szeged. They are going to practice English intensively throughput this week at the campus of LSC.
Day one (13 July) in Chalfont St. Giles – On the first day the students wrote their language placement tests, which will be the bases of the classes this week. In the afternoon there was a quiz show where the teachers tested the students’ general knowledge. It was followed by table tennis competition with the participation of the Brazilian team as well. Tomorrow, teaching continues during the morning hours and the afternoon will be devoted to explore the nearby area.
News from London – On Sunday we waited for the airplane very excitedly, however we were glad because we met again with our friends. After we arrived at Heathrow we said goodbye to our friends. Then we met our hostfamily. They were very helpful and nice. On the first day’s morning we travelled to school and we have written some tests. After this we got our groups. At the end of the school day we visited the London Eye and the 4D cinema. We have been lucky supoported by to AIESEC members called Takács Péter and Kékkuti Laura, who we always can rely on during our stay here in London. We walked around the city centre with Peter. We discussed issues such as living in London, work conditions and the couintry’s history. He told us a lot of interesting things. We were looking forward to our subway line to get home. In the afternoon we visited the nearby village of Chalfont St Giles, where we visited a church dating back to the 12th century and the house of Milton where we wrote “Paradise Lost”. During the rest of the day sport was in the centre of attention, football, volleyball and flag catching were the programmes.

Then we searched for a bus stop and we travelled to the Natural History Museum. There were a lots of interesting things for example skeletals and stones. Last but not least we visited some shops at the Oxford street. Gábor Szabó, Ádám Szappanos
Day three (15 July)
News from London – On Wednesday we went to school again. All in all it was the second absolutely interesting day in London. In our group we talked with an Algerian guy. That’s a good opportunity for us to get to know other cultures of different parts of the world. Then we went to the British Museum. It is an enormous building and few hours are not enough too see everything at all, as a result we spent three hours here. Finally when we came to home by tube the phon was ringing. As a surprise it was our local Hungarian friend Peter: we met him and he guided us in East of London showing us the most important places of this part of city. So we spent another fabulous and memorable day in London. Szabó Gábor, Szappanos Ádám
Fourth day (16 July)
On the fourth day members of the Chalfont camp visited the Chiltern open air museum after the morning lessons. We could learn about the traditional trades of England and the furnished houses throughout the centuries showed us how people lived and worked in rural England many many years before.
The two students who lived in London went to Camden Town to take a trip there and enjoyed street music, arts and tasted different local foods. They had a memorable afternoon among the youngs of London. After the afternoon trip the students went home to their host families.
Fifth day (17 July)
This day was moving because the Chalfont school students went to London to spend the whole day there. The first attraction was the Madam Tussaud wax museum then Oxford street with its shopping centres. We closed the day in the Covent Garden where street artists amused us while listening the performances of many street musicians.
Sixth day (18 July)
This day was devoted to London again. The Chalfont and London group spent the whole day together, first in the London Dungeon later a long walk in the city centre to the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing street, Trafalgar square and the National Gallery. We closed the day in the Soho in Lyric theatre where we watched Michael Jackson’s Thriller musical. We closed an eventful and exciting week in London.
Seventh day (19 July)
We started it very early as the bus which took us to the airport arrived to school at 5 o’clock in the morning. We met the two London students at Heathrow and after 2 hours we landed safe and sound at boiling Budapest airport.
All members of the group had nice memories and would like to express their thanks for the chance that they could improve their English language knowledge in mother tongue milieu.
