ELTE Eötvös Collegium Talent Camp
From January 25 till 30 I had the pleasure of spending a week at the oldest educational dorm of ELTE, the Eötvös József Collegium, where the talent camp took place for the fourth time this year.
In the morning there were presentations about life at the university and the dorm held by professors and students. After these we had lessons in one of the 17 workshops of the dorm, according to our interests. I was part of the Anglo-American workshop. Here we worked in small groups, the lessons were held in English about the language’s literature, grammar and history.
Afternoon cultural programmes were organized for us. We visited the Hungarian Natural History Museum, we went to an organ concert to Müpa (Palace of Arts) and took a trip to the Pálvölgyi cave system. Unfortunately I couldn’t take part in the trip to the Hungarian Parliament Building because the semi-final of the English OKTV (national competition for high schools) was on the same day. I’m glad I was invited to this camp because it was very memorable and I got a foretaste of what life is like at university and I got to know a very friendly community.
