A trip to Gyula
We took the castle and the palace.
On the 7th of May members of group 3 of Szeged travelled to Gyula to visit the only remaining brick castle of Hungary and the newly rebuilt Almásy palace. We started the day very early at the main railway station of Szeged, as we wished to travel by train to the Békés County town. The first stop in Gyula was the castle where we dressed up in renaissance costumes and then explored the building and the exhibitions. We learned how the people, solders and noblemen of the time worked and lived. Later we walked to the nearby restaurant, which we waited very much to relax a bit after the long walks and stair climbing in the castle. Our next stop was the Almásy palace. Here we could get a glimpse into the everyday lives of servants and earls of the 1800s. The exhibition revealed the hierarchy of the servants, who was responsible for and the upper class people which room they used for what purpose. After the visit in the palace we had to hurry back to catch the train. During the three-hour long journey we all had time to relax after this exciting day.
