Winter Trip to Budapest
An invitation by the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and a visit to the Houses of ParliamentMany of us have already heard the word ‘ombudsman’ but we had no idea what it really means. Until today (12 January 2017) when we had the kindest invitation by the Office to visit them in Budapest and learn more about their Office and work. Therefore, the groups of Pécs 3, Nagybajom 3 and Szeged 3 travelled to Budapest to spend a day there. The colleagues of the Office greeted us warmly and also the Commissioner, Dr Székely László greeted us. We heard about the about the work of the people and we also could learn about the history of the Office. Later we were split up into three groups and we were learning while we were playing. Now we have a broader knowledge about the Office and about the fundamental human rights. In the early afternoon, we walked to the visitor centre of the Houses of Parliament where our tour guide took us around the building. We could hear the history of the building, the most important dates and numbers in connection with the building, who works there and why it is important to have a house like this. Naturally, we watched the Crown Jewells as well and also the change of the Crown guards.Despite the winter weather, we really enjoyed the day in Budapest. Pap Virág, Gál Dorina Nagybajom 3
