In the footsteps of the Jász language
As part of today’s local history project, we got to know the language of the Jász people. Today’s project was particularly interesting for me, as I am interested in foreign languages. I had not known before that the Jász people had their own language.
Our mentor showed us a language monument on which Jász words were discovered. Throughout history, the Jász people used their original language for about 300 years, then their linguistic assimilation also took place, and in the 17th century they already used the Hungarian language. Through a word puzzle game, we got to know the surviving Jász words, which were unknown to us, and it was a difficult puzzle to figure out what each word could mean. Thank you for the opportunity to gain new knowledge today. (Lili Boglárka Burkus, Jászság 4)
