Christmas Holiday in the House – Advent in Szentes

Christmas Holiday in the House – Advent in Szentes

“As part of our Advent Family Day program, we watched the Retro Christmas and toy exhibition in Szentes in the Gólyás ház in order to tune in to the holiday. The owner, Gabi Hornok, is a Christmas fan, so over the years she has collected many beautiful decorations and toys that bring back fond memories of her childhood and our generation. The collection also contains a lot of special old ornaments, books, children’s toys, postcards and candy boxes that are no longer available, which we were able to show our children the characters of our old Christmases. We told each other stories about edible candy, retro pine tree ornaments, games, etc. A lot of topics came up that we haven’t talked about in a long time. The period-correctly decorated Christmas trees also gave back the retro atmosphere, and Gabi’s hand-made Advent villages are fairytale-like.

Then we returned to the Community House, where the main hall was already in a Christmas mood. We also had a guest, Dr. Miklós Radoszáv, the operative director of the Foundation, spent the afternoon with us. He was happy to announce that next year our team in Szentes will be expanded with new supporters, the “little ones” are coming, so our groups can already try themselves in the role of small mentors. After the welcome speech of our mentors, Sanya bá presented an entertaining presentation of the Santa Claus and Christmas customs of some nations. We could also feel like Santa Claus, as we traveled all over the world in imagination, from Europe to Iceland to Australia. We were able to experience all of this even more closely in the room decorated with Christmas lights. This year too, the Foundation contributed to making the holidays more beautiful with a rich Christmas gift package. We always look forward to the yearbook, it feels good to look back at the meaningful programs and recall the memories. We had a great time, it was nice to be together again as a big family. We wish everyone a happy holiday!” -Parents Dóra Tajnai and Katalin Farkas
