Presentation techniques – workshop of the OTP Fáy András Foundation in Szentes
On a sunny Saturday in November, the staff of the OTP Fáy Foundation gave us an interactive session on presentation techniques.
After a short introduction, our first task was to choose one of the human characteristics related to presentations, and explain it to the others why this characteristic is our strength or weakness when we have to speak in front of an audience. Like body language, volume, fighting, eye contact, focus, and more. We discussed them and got tips on how to improve each skill.
As a second task, we were given the “and then” dialogue game, during which we could practice conversation and storytelling in pairs in a playful way. This exercise stimulated our creativity, we came up with entertaining stories, sometimes a little out of touch with reality.
Then we watched videos of two different presentation styles, which we evaluated in several small groups through the good and bad presentation techniques discussed in the first task. We have sorted out what a speaker should pay attention to, what the audience may not like, and what techniques can be used to attract and maintain attention.
Finally, it was our turn: we had to give a presentation in three groups. We were able to choose the topic, we were given preparation time and guidance on how to structure the framework of the presentation. After collecting materials, making slides and debriefing, each group gave its own presentation. We adults also received new information about cryptocurrency and chewing gum.
We, the parents, introduced the history and interesting facts of coffee to the children. We discussed each performance from the perspective of the audience and the performers, so we were able to gain a lot of experience, which we can later use in a performance situation. We were able to take part in a dynamic, fun and educational workshop, which is mainly thanks to our supervisor and the enthusiastic team. Thank you for the possibility! – Dóra Tajnai parent, Szentes 2nd group
