Excursion in Inner Somogy
One weekday afternoon, we decided to head out and explore the outskirts surrounding Nagybajom. Our attention was first drawn to a young, molting white-tailed eagle circling above the Ötös-Hárs Reservoir. Its daily routine was being disrupted by crows and a buzzard. As a defense tactic, the eagle would often flip onto its back mid-air to scare off its uninvited “companions.”
Next, we visited the Boronka landscape. We were greeted by a stunning natural environment. Walking along the winding embankments, we tried to capture the beauty of the scenery through our lenses. One of the most fascinating moments of the excursion was spotting a wild boar sow casually strolling with her striped piglets. Above the ferruginous ducks, coots, and grebes, the silhouette of an old white-tailed eagle—often dubbed the “king of birds”—appeared as a natural spectacle.
The constant song of the chaffinches, the loud squabbling of the coots, and the sparkling sunshine all contributed to an exceptionally calming and memorable experience.
